Be Kind To Yourself and Know That You’re Not Alone

"You just have to be patient with yourself and you just have to be kind to yourself and just treat yourself well."

Transcript

One piece of advice I would have is just to be patient with yourself and just to be patient with the illness because it takes a lot of time to figure out what's going on in your mind, for one, and how to incorporate yourself into the greater society as a person with this illness. So, you just have to be patient with yourself and you just have to be kind to yourself and just treat yourself well.

It's important to know that you're not alone in dealing with schizophrenia. There are millions of people out there who have it. There are millions more who suffer with depression and anxiety. So, just know that whatever you're going through, somebody's gone through it before and you're not alone in what you're feeling.

If you're feeling alone, I'd say reach out to a friend, reach out to a family member, reach out to somebody who understands what you're going through and who is there to have your back no matter what. It can be hard to find those people, but, once you do, you have made a friend for life.
