My Wife is My Living Donor and Caregiver

“Her enthusiasm has helped me personally overcome anxiety and make me feel like every day I’m going to beat this”

The role that Leslie has played in this disease has been unbelievable.  From the moment that I told her that I had PKD to today, she has been a supportive best friend, stayed optimistic.

When she first told me that she could be the donor, my reaction was no, you don’t have to be, but she insisted that she wanted to do it, and she was compatible, and willing, and able and healthy enough, and I just felt it was the best thing to do.

If it weren’t for her, I would probably have not had my nephrectomy by now, probably wouldn’t have a donor in my life, and I would be in far worse shape than I am.

Her enthusiasm has helped me personally overcome anxiety and makes me feel like every day I’m going to beat this, and I feel like I am.
