How is kidney function measured?  One of the best kidney function tests is glomerular filtration rate (GFR). It measures how well your kidneys are working. Your eGFR can be affected by age, sex, and body weight. Historically, race was included as a factor in determining a patient's eGFR which has potential clinical consequences.
